The show featured the ever-popular tale of The Little Mermaid with Disney's Ariel. They skated around to the girl pop anthem "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" except for the girls were wearing mermaid costumes instead of 80's Cyndi Lauper outfits. "Under the Sea" kept the kids singing and the parents whistling long after the scene was over.Mickey Mouse himself told the story of Merida from Disney's BRAVE. Followers of my blog know just how much my daughter adores Merida and her free spirited attitude so this was a special treat for her! My son loved how she broke the target (Merida is an archery buff) in half when shooting it and the flames were a smash hit! As in the movie, in the end Merida was free to make her own decisions and marry as she pleased.
The scene showcasing Belle from Beauty and the Beast focused on Belle's original suitor, Gaston, and his arrogant ways and later her true love, the Beast. Belle has always been a favorite of mine because she loves to read and wasn't at all concerned about Gaston's silly ways. A daddy's girl at heart, Belle looks at what is inside instead of the superficial. Costumes during this scene were beautiful, imaginative, and full of play!
